Today is my future sister in laws birthday! So I thought I would share some photos from the bridal shower my Aunt Kris, my Aunt Staci, and I threw for her this past March! Happy Birthday Kelly!
Since I know everyone celebrated Cinco de Mayo yesterday, here is a great way to keep on celebrating!
1 Large Mango
1 Small Red Bell Pepper
1 Small Red Onion
Peel and dice the mango in to chunks. Finely dice the red bell peppper and red onion. Slice open the jalapeño and deseed. Then finely dice the jalapeño. Finely chop the cilantro. Combine all of these ingredients in to a bowl. Squeeze the juice of one lime and mix. Enjoy with some great corn tortilla chips and a margarita!
I know this was for a special occasion but I really think it makes a perfect salsa for every day!
I have some amazing, incredible, exciting news!! (I really don’t think there are enough exclamation points and adjectives to describe how I feel right now typing out this post!!) Saturday night David asked me to marry him and I could not have been happier to say yes. Saturday was the perfect day of relaxing for me, I went shopping and got a mani and pedi while David golfed. We had planned to go to our favorite restaurant in Dallas (the spot David took me on our very first date) Campisi’s (the original one on Mockingbird!) I like to get ready for our dates in our guest bedroom while David gets ready in our room. I always love to pretend that its our very first date and David gets to see me when I am all ready. I usually walk down the stairs and David will tell me I look great and we will be on our way for our dinner plans. Well this Saturday was a little different, I got all dolled up and I walked down the stairs where David met me, got down on one knee and told me ever since he waited for me from the first time he took me to Campisi’s he was hoping this day would come, he said a ton more sweet and heartfelt things, and then asked me to marry him! Of course I said YES! We shared a champagne toast (he had a bottle chilled and waiting– this guy thinks of everything!) then we went to Campisi’s and shared the same meal we shared on our first date. Afterwards, we came back to our house where we celebrated the good news with our very good friends and neighbors, drinking champagne, laughing, and loving the moment. Thank you to everyone who has loved and encouraged us while we were dating, we can not wait to start this journey together!
David and I have so much moving and unpacking to do, but all I can think about is planning a wedding (come on everyone has a secret Pinterest board) I am so excited to share every moment with all of you! xoxo
I love this quote. I love the idea that loving yourself is a project, a lifelong process, not something that just magically happens. I recently had the privilege of watching a YouTube post by Amy Poehler on her YouTube channel Ask Amy all about Bodies and Body image. I fell in love with her response about how we need to focus on the areas of our body or ourselves that we love. Tell ourselves over and over again what we love about ourselves, especially when we are feeling down. We need to talk to ourselves in a loving way, like we would a sister or a friend. I think in todays world with the constant updates and photos it is impossible to not compare yourself or your life to others. I think my new goal is to change the tone of that voice in my head. If I can talk to others in a loving, kind, and compassionate way, I really need to do the same for myself.
David and I both agreed that our first week back will be devoted to relaxing, unpacking, and enjoying our friends and family down in Texas. So this means NO PROJECTS, yet! But that doesn’t stop me from pulling inspiration images for our first project, our garage! We just want to do something basic, storage, work stations, and a place for my car! So here are some of my inspiration images for our (soon to be) perfect garage.
