HAPPY HOUR: Patio Margaritas

I know I have posted A LOT of margarita recipes on this blog, but I have come across my absolute favorite, and quite possibly the absolute easiest margarita you could ever make! This recipe is in honor of our neighbor Karen coming back in to town (even if its only for a few days) She is the one who so generously passed this recipe on to me!

PATIO MARGARITAS.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Can of  Frozen Limeade

Tequila

Limes

Orange Juice

Corona

INSTRUCTIONS:

Combine 1 can of frozen limeade, one can of water (all these measurements you’ll just use the limeade can for!), half a can of orange juice, 1 can of tequila, and half of any Mexican beer (we prefer Corona!) Stir and refrigerate. Garnish glass with a salted rim and a lime wedge and you are good to go!

These are perfect for a casual night of homemade Mexican food or to supply for the masses at a party (they are that easy!)

HAPPY HOUR: Berry Rum Punch

So here is a recipe that I created for a bridal shower we threw at work (of course it was nonalcoholic!) but maybe after hours you can add the rum to add a little kick!

BERRY RUM PUNCH.

BERRY RUM PUNCH.

INGREDIENTS:

1 bottle of White Cranberry Juice

1 bottle of Prosecco

2-3 cups of Rum (our favorite is Bacardi)

1 bag of frozen mixed berries

DIRECTIONS:

Mix the White Cranberry Juice, Prosecco, and Rum together and chill. Add semi-thawed

berries (and juice… thats what gives it that great deep color) when ready to serve!

Enjoy! and always drink responsibly!

**the nonalcoholic version (perfect for a work function or baby shower) is just cranberry juice, lime soda, and frozen mixed berries**

HAPPY HOUR: Cleanse Happy Hour

So David and I are usually pretty healthy eaters… usually! But these past month with all the moving, stress, and celebrating (yay! we’re engaged… have I mentioned that? haha) we really have not been on track! Our favorite thing to do when we’re feeling a little crummy from way we have been eating is go on the Advocare 10 Day Herbal Cleanse! Its really nothing crazy, just a strict diet of lean protein, vegetable, and complex carb at each meal. By the end of the 10 days you would think you would be craving a giant slice of pizza and a big scoop of ice cream, but your body really isn’t craving processed foods! It always helps us get back on track, and kind of fuel our bodies the way we need to! So since today is the last day of my FIRST week of work, I thought I would celebrate with a Happy Hour, cleanse style! Here is my green favorite juice recipe that I have been loving lately.

LOVE LETTERS TO HOME.

INGREDIENTS:

2 Cucumbers

2 Green Apples

2 Cups of Spinach

Its so simple! Make sure everything is washed and fully clean.

Slice the cucumbers and apples until they are the perfect size for your juicer.

Juice. Pour over ice. and Enjoy!

*this recipe will make a double serving of juice (16oz) using a masticating juicer

Here are some more of my cleanse must haves…

Advocare Meal Replacement Shakes (my favorite is the Mocha Chocolate (these are just the chocolate ones!) I take a long time to get ready in the morning so I don't have time to cook a balanced breakfast, these give you the perfect balance of protein and carbs! A great way to start your day!

Starbucks iced teas! You're not suppose to have any caffeine or alcohol on the cleanse, but I do allow myself to have iced green teas!

HAPPY HOUR: Dirty Arnold Palmer

Many (well lets be honest a majority) of my followers don’t realize that this weekend is The Masters, but in the Stephenson household it is somewhat of a week long holiday! This happy hour post is dedicated to a famous golfer, Arnold Palmer, and his delicious drink of choice. Now a regular Arnold Palmer is Sweet Tea, Lemonade, and, if you’re of age, Vodka. Here is a great recipe with a little twist.

THE DIRTY ARNOLD PALMER.

THE DIRTY ARNOLD PALMER.

INGREDIENTS:

Sweet Tea Vodka (my personal favorite is Firefly)

8 Lemons

1 Cup of Sugar

Fresh Mint Leaves

INSTRUCTIONS:

This recipe starts with a simple lemonade. You can always buy lemonade, but this is quick, easy and delicious!

The key to good homemade lemonade is making a simple syrup first.  Just dissolve the sugar in water in a skillet on the stove. Next add the zest of three lemons and gently simmer for about 5 minutes, whisking occasionally to help the sugar dissolve.  Remove from heat and let cool.  While it’s cooling, squeeze the juice from the rest of your lemons into a bowl.  Strain into a pitcher, strain the simple syrup on top and stir.

Fill a glass with ice and pour your sweet tea vodka in (about halfway up the glass– don’t be skimpy!) Next, fill the rest of the glass the fresh lemonade you made, add a sprig of mint leaves, and ENJOY!

Enjoy a few of these in honor of the real Arnold Palmer!

HAPPY HOUR: Favorite Wine Accessories

I am so lucky to have fallen in love with a lover of wine. I have learned so much in just a year, and have been spoiled to have some amazing bottles of wine. Not only do I love drinking and learning about wine, but I love all the amazing accessories that go with wine drinking! Here are some of my favor wine accessories that have made my life so much easier.

When it comes to wine accessories you have to start off with the basics... amazing wine glasses. What I didn't know is that wine actually tastes different depending on what glass you drink it in! Our favorite, and really the classics, are Reidel Stemware!

I am obsessed with my Metrokane Vertical Rabbit Corkscrew! You can't enjoy your wine if you can't get it open... and this makes that process beyond easy! David still prefers a wine key, but I just love the ease with this tool! Its available on Amazing for only $39.99

This is the most amazing tool! If you open your bottle of wine, don't finish it and a day or two later you want another glass just pour it through the aerator and it will taste just as amazing! This is the Vinturi Wine Aerator available at Bed Bath and Beyond for $29.99
