The entryway to your home or apartment is the first impression of your space. A welcoming entryway can instantly make someone feel at home. I love the idea of a simple entryway with very little clutter, but that still makes a statement.
So once you have an inspiration image for a room you want to decorate or recreate you have to decide what you are willing to spend. You also have to decide where you want to spend your money. If you are like me, and on a tight budget, you are going to need to decide where you can make compromises. If you’re in love with that bench, you may pay full price for the bench and spend less on the other items. If you want a bold chandelier hanging in your entryway that is where you will spend your money. Here are options to recreate this room depending on where you want to spend and where you want to save.
SPEND: Benchwright Floor Mirror from Pottery Barn for $499
SAVE: Floating Wood Mirror in Espresso from West Elm for $399
SPEND: John Vogel Bench in Charcol from West Elm for $399
SAVE: Mission Bench from Home Decorators for $139
SPEND: The Beachcombers Extra Large Round Basket from Pottery Barn for $103 (on sale)
SAVE: The Modern Weave Oversized Storage Bin from West Elm for $89
The Murray Feiss 6 Light Chateau Chandelier for $599 from Lighting Universe.
SAVE: The Bellora Chandelier from Pottery Barn for $329
If you bought all the splurge items the total would be $1600 and if you bought all of the save items the total would be $956. Now if you already have some of these items or similar ones you are all set! My one rule when budgeting for my home is if you love it and can’t afford it now, wait and buy it when you can. Do not waste your money on things you do not absolutely love just because you want to fill space.
