It has been a wild ride with renovations, holidays, celebrations, and so much more! Here are a few snapshots of what we have been up to lately…
We have made a huge amount of progress in such a short amount of time (David you are amazing!) Here are some photos from the past week and half so you can see how much progress we have made!
This crazy journey just keeps on going! But I know there will be more insta-photos to share!
It has been a very very busy time in the Stephenson household. We are planning our wedding, working full time, oh and completely remodeling our first floor! The dust and concrete would be enough to drive someone crazy, thankfully David and I have a good sense of humor! They say home renovations are 80% prep work and we are living that right now! David has done an amazing job prepping our house for paint, tile, and hardwoods! Our first area of focus when we get to flooring will be our powder room, you never realize how convent a bathroom on the first floor is, until you have to rip our the toilet and sink! Here are some of our recent renovations photos so you can see the madness that is going on!
David is in charge of the renovation agenda, so you will have to ask him whats going to happen next, but I think it will be painting the walls, cabinets, and backsplash! Or it could be finishing up the powder room! We have so much to choose from here! More DIY and renovation posts to come!
So as we go along in this renovation process it is easy to get caught up in the small things, how dusty the house seems or how we have to wear shoes constantly now (I am a ‘go barefoot’ kind of girl!) but what I really need to focus on is the fact that these renovations are really giving us great experience in what we both really want to do (design spaces and renovate!) So I get a blank canvas and free manual labor! (haha. only joking David!) So right now I am collecting inspiration images (the designer in me) and trying to put together an image of what we want our first floor to look like! We plan on painting our wood cabinets because we have decided to put hardwood floors throughout the first floor. I really can’t decide between grey or white! Here are some of my home-spiration images for painted cabinets, maybe you can help me decide!
So of course this water heater flood has really turned our home upside down! Thankfully I have the most handy man in the world who has decided to take on all of these major renovations (by himself!) in order to make us the most beautiful home. (okay be warned this may be kind of a bragging post because I feel so lucky right now!) The past two weeks David has finished all of the drywall that needed to be done, ripped up all of our baseboards, and has removed almost all the tile on our first floor! Here are some photos of the damage…
The next steps include removing the last layer of grout and remove the tile from our downstairs powder room, paint, then we (and by this I mean David) can start laying hardwood floors! Slowly but surely this place will become less dusty and more like our dream home! I am just so grateful for David’s insanely amazing work ethic!a
Well I have been absent from the blogging world this past week because of some crazy and unfortunate news! My brother had his lovely wedding in Annapolis, Maryland and while we were out of town our water heater broke and completely flooded the first floor of our house! The ironic (and frustrating!!) thing about this is that we had a NEW water heater in our garage that we had planned on installing when we got home!
This was so not what we were expecting, but it may be a blessing in disguise. We are hoping to do a TON of DIY projects to really get this place the way we want it to be! Hopefully in a few months (yes I am being optimistic here!) we will have the renovated home of our dreams 🙂 Stay tuned!
