WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Wine Cellar Wedding

When David and I sat down and really talked about our future wedding, we both agreed we wanted our wedding to be the perfect expression of ‘us.’ Since being engaged I have loved the idea of having my wedding at a unique location, David and I aren’t really the ballroom type of people! The Belmont Hotel is THE PERFECT location for the two of us, sentimental because we would go there all of the time during the long distance of our relationship, and the perfect expression of us because its casual, fun, and has the perfect view of Dallas. Of course if you read this blog you know that David and I are also huge wine lovers! Here is another crazy dream that went through my head when thinking of planning our wedding, a vineyard wine cellar wedding! Enjoy my inspiration images for this perfect and romantic wedding!

HAPPY HOUR: Favorite Wine Accessories

I am so lucky to have fallen in love with a lover of wine. I have learned so much in just a year, and have been spoiled to have some amazing bottles of wine. Not only do I love drinking and learning about wine, but I love all the amazing accessories that go with wine drinking! Here are some of my favor wine accessories that have made my life so much easier.

When it comes to wine accessories you have to start off with the basics... amazing wine glasses. What I didn't know is that wine actually tastes different depending on what glass you drink it in! Our favorite, and really the classics, are Reidel Stemware!

I am obsessed with my Metrokane Vertical Rabbit Corkscrew! You can't enjoy your wine if you can't get it open... and this makes that process beyond easy! David still prefers a wine key, but I just love the ease with this tool! Its available on Amazing for only $39.99

This is the most amazing tool! If you open your bottle of wine, don't finish it and a day or two later you want another glass just pour it through the aerator and it will taste just as amazing! This is the Vinturi Wine Aerator available at Bed Bath and Beyond for $29.99

Now these are definitely great accessories I need to invest in because I can't even tell you how many wine glasses I have broke in our dishwasher! Here are the Quirky Tether Stemware Protectors available at Home Depot for $9.99 each!

IN MY KITCHEN: Apple Walnut Brie Dessert

Here is a delicious dessert we encountered on our adventures in Charleston, South Carolina. It is so simple and delicious and is great for entertaining. I called it a dessert, but really it could be a sweet and savory appetizer or small plate!

APPLE WALNUT BRIE DESSERT.

APPLE WALNUT BRIE DESSERT.

INGREDIENTS:

1 Green Apple

Brie Cheese

Whole Walnuts

Honey

DIRECTIONS:

Slice the green apple very thin using a mandolin or just a sharp kitchen knife.

Layer the thin apple slices at the bottom of the plate. Cut the wheel of Brie cheese in

to quarter inch strips. Layer the strips over the green apple slices. Sprinkle

Whole walnuts (or small pieces of walnut) over top the cheese. Drizzle

with honey and serve with thick crusty bread slices.

TOURIST STYLE: 1215 Wine Bar

After my post on Cooper’s Hawk I realize I really needed to post about another one of our favorite wine spots in Cincinnati, 1215 Wine Bar. Its this small gem in OTR that has an amazing selection of wines, a great small plates menu, and live music. The best thing about this place is that they have a whole wall of wines sold at the rock bottom price that you can buy and take home or buy and have them serve it to you there!

The best thing to try at 1215 is their WINE FLIGHTS! You get a selection of three wines, and if you ask the bartender he will number them and give you a list of flavors and aromas found in each glass of wine and you have to guess which glass is which description! Its my favorite thing to do! And of course it helps that I always beat David!

Their plates are small, but the quality is amazing! And that honey almond crunch they serve with their cheese plates is AMAZING with blue cheese!

TOURIST STYLE: Cooper’s Hawk in Cincinnati, OH

So if you have read some of my past posts you know David and I love wine. Drinking wine, wineries, if it involves grapes we are thrilled. So of course when we found out there was a great new wine tasting room in Cincinnati, Cooper’s Hawk, we had to go and see what it was all about!

Well the review is in and we had such an AMAZING time. I had briefly heard a few ladies at work discussing the new place so I looked in to it, and found an amazing review describing the place as “a little bit of Napa Valley in Cincinnati” so of course that peaked my interest! We were greeted when we arrived with a small tasting of wine and were told that there was a tasting room, a bar area and restaurant. We decided to start with their deluxe wine tasting which included a house made dessert of our choice. I have never paired dessert with dessert wines before, but let me tell you it was HEAVEN for a girl with a sweet tooth! After a full wine tasting we had an amazing flatbread pizza at the bar. I am telling you if you are ever in Cincinnati and are a wine lover of any kind you really need to check this place out! They also have locations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin! I may have been born and raised in Cincinnati, but I still love checking out new attractions in tourist style.

HOME-SPIRATION: Wine Cellar

So it is my final semester at the University of Cincinnati, and of course I am busy doing my thesis and preparing for the real world, but I couldn’t resist taking an extra class just for fun. David and I are taking Intro to Wine to really fine tune our love for wine and I am SO excited! So I have been so obsessed with having a wine cellar (of course combine my love for interior design and wine and I am all in!) Here are some of my favorite home-spiration images of some amazing at home wine cellars.
